Presence and Presents—Keys to  Successful Social Media Marketing, What Educators Need to Know
Description: The future of social media is marketing. Brands and consumers alike use social media for content creation, information sharing, and building meaningful relationships. As online platforms continue to grow and evolve, it is imperative that businesses know how to leverage social media for a competitive advantage. Our session will focus on effective strategies used to build a social media presence, engage audiences, and expand reach. These strategies include, but are not limited to, using keywords for search engine optimization (SEO), posting relevant content, incorporating calls to action, scheduling posts, partnering with influencers for giveaways, and monitoring feedback loops.

Learning Objectives: Attendees will learn the nuances of popular social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn) and how to create relevant and engaging content. Additionally, they will learn how to use social media as a marketing tool and implement best practices for the growth and success of a business.

Presenter Bios and Qualifications:
 Miranda Williams, Ph.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Applied and Collaborative Studies at the University of North Texas. She received her PhD in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and her MBA from East Carolina University. During her time at UNCG, she researched the authenticity of fashion influencers and presented her findings at the Academy of Marketing Science. Additionally, she taught Social Media Marketing for the College of Business at East Carolina University and consulted with local businesses on their social media strategies. She is currently a member of the Digital Marketing Institute and pursuing the AMA-DMI dual certification (PCM Digital Marketing and Certified Digital Marketing Professional).
Susan Watson, Ph.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the College of Applied and Collaborative Studies at the University of North Texas. She received her PhD in Applied and Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University and both her Masters in Agricultural Education and Bachelors in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. She is an Applied Economist with research in education, online learning, e-commerce, agricultural marketing, and precision agriculture. She has presented at numerous academic and industry conferences across business, agricultural economics, and education disciplines in both virtual and in-person formats.
