Teaching with Purpose: Connecting the NBEA Standards to Classroom Practice
Overview

Teaching with Purpose: Connecting the NBEA Standards to Classroom Practice is a one-hour professional learning webinar designed to help business educators translate standards into meaningful instruction.

Purpose and Relevance

Rather than viewing standards as a compliance checklist, this session focuses on using the NBEA Standards as a practical framework for lesson design, assessment, and student engagement. Participants will also be introduced to NBEA’s Business Lesson Plan Creator Version 1.0 and learn how it can be used to intentionally align standards, objectives, activities, and assessments within a single planning tool.
The webinar emphasizes real classroom application through examples and guided reflection. Educators will examine how to unpack an NBEA standard, connect it to learning objectives, and design instruction that reflects real-world business skills. Through a guided walkthrough of the Business Lesson Plan Creator, participants will see how the tool supports purposeful planning while saving time and improving instructional clarity. The session concludes with practical strategies educators can immediately use to refine existing lessons and strengthen standards-based practice.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify the instructional intent of selected NBEA Standards
• Explain how NBEA Standards connect to daily classroom instruction
• Align lesson objectives, learning activities, and assessments to NBEA Standards
• Apply a standards-to-practice planning process to an existing lesson or unit using NBEA’s Business Lesson Plan Creator
