Business Law: Understanding Civil and Criminal Law

A middle and early high school business law lesson on civil versus criminal law and the burden of proof in each.

Objectives:

  • Define civil law and criminal law
  • Differentiate between civil and criminal law
  • Explain the burden of proof required in civil and criminal cases

Age Level: Middle/Early High School

Complies with NBEA Business Law 2023 Standard I.1.G Analyze the relationship between ethics and the law and describe the law’s sources, the structure of the court system, different classifications of procedural law, and different classifications of substantive law:
