Business Teacher Education Curriculum Guide and Program Standards

NABTE's curriculum guide and program standards for preparing business teachers, from professionalism and assessment to subject competencies.

The business teacher education curriculum outlined in this document addresses the preparatory training business educators need to fulfill this responsibility. In accordance with its mission to encourage continuous improvement in the initial and advanced preparation of business teachers, NABTE has revised each of the key areas of its curriculum: professionalism, curriculum development, assessment and instruction, the classroom environment, professional communication, relationships with the business community and other publics, career development, and subject competencies.

In addition to setting standards for the education of business teachers, this document also delineates standards for business teacher education programs and incorporates best practice standards from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). These standards are useful for conducting a comprehensive program evaluation leading to the improvement and enhancement of business teacher education.
