Communications Faux Pas Be Gone!

Close students' communication gaps, from etiquette and social media to virtual interviews, and offer an industry certification in soft skills.

Where have all the communication skills gone? From polite etiquette, tasteful social media postings, professionally formatted written communications, and all the way to professional first impressions in virtual interviews or meetings, there is an obvious gap in our student's communication skills and employers are begging for business teachers to help. What if we made a renewed effort to teach, embed, and provide real-life modeling of these essential skills into our classrooms and CTSOs? Better yet, what if we followed that up with offering our students the opportunity to earn an industry certification in Communication/Soft Skills that would prove their skill set to employers and be impressive during scholarship and admissions interviews? It's a win-win for students and your programs as employers and local business leaders discover the "caliber" of students that you are producing in your department. Let's dive into creative ways to teach this content and look at software that is ready to assist you in the classroom. Teachers will learn about the test objectives for the CSB Certification Exam. Teachers will learn about the skills gap that employers need filled regarding Communication/Soft Skills. Teacher will learn strategies for teaching Communication/Soft Skills and how to incorporate this content into any classroom.
