Communications: Listening For Meaning, What Is It and How We Do We Do It?
A communication lesson on the difference between hearing and listening, active listening, and strategies for listening for meaning.
Objectives:
- Distinguish between hearing and listening.
- Differentiate between active listening and passive listening
- Develop listening comprehension skills using the basic principles of focused listening and linking one’s own thoughts to the flow of ideas in a conversation.
- Identify practices and strategies to listen for meaning.
National Standards: Complies with NBEA Communication 2023 Standard I.A.1 Listen for meaning.
