Engaging Community Partners in Possible Selves Transformation of Urban Students

Self-concepts develop through experiences in social circles. Urban youth often face challenges within social circles that restrict their self-concept, an important component of adolescent development and academic achievement.
This presentation shares how a mentoring program created a partnership learning experience that improved perceived pathways for urban students. The program expanded student social circles through new cultural experiences, transforming the perception of their future self and overall self-concept.
