Exploring Online Paraphrasing Tools: Features, Quality, and Plagiarism Detection Avoidance

Online paraphrasing tools claim to rewrite submitted passages so that they evade plagiarism detection. The increasing prevalence of social media outlets for advertising and sharing these tools creates additional concerns for changing attitudes towards this form of academic dishonesty as well as the negative impact on writing skill development due to students taking these shortcuts. In this session, we explore online paraphrasing tools including cost, quality of results, and the ability to avoid plagiarism detection.
